Homestay mart commences in Pokhara
The Rural Tourism Mart has commenced in Pokhara since Friday. Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Village Tourism Promotion Forum (VITOF) have jointly organized the programme. Around 200 households who were organizing various programmes to boost the village tourism to the market access have participated in the programme.
The community house managers (home stay) from Thini community house of Thini Mustang to Darai community house of Nawalparasi attended the programme aimed at boosting the local tourism. VITOF chair Dhruba Simkhada said there are 273 homestays in operation in Gandaki state.
RSS reporter Poudel awarded
The Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reporter from Gandaki State, Basudev Poudel was conferred with the Captain Rudraman Memorial Rural Tourism Journalism Award. The award carries a purse of Rs 11,111.
Similarly, Kantipur Television correspondent Bhupal Gurung was feted in the programme. The two journalists were awarded in recognition of their contribution to promoting rural tourism in general and homestay service in particular through journalism.
