Around 2,000 children in eight districts identified with visual defect
A total of 1,952 children in different parts of eight districts in the country have been found with visual defects.
The Bharatpur Eye Hospital in a period of past 11 months had conducted eye check-up camps for children of 144 schools in Chitwan, Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Nawalpur, Tanahu, Gorkha and Dhading.
A total of 67,648 children underwent eye checkups during the camps.
These findings show that a large number of children are suffering the problems of visual defects unknowingly. During the camps, glasses were distributed to the needy children.
According to hospital manager Daya Shankar Chaudhary, school teachers were also given classes on eye health and its importance so as to seek their help to find out children with eye problems on time and treat them.
